I cannot believe that it is the last day of term!  This half term has whizzed by – and what a half term it has been!   Thank you all for your support at all our Christmas events, especially the Fair.  We raised over £600!  Thank you to all the hard work of the FOPS team and to those who helped out on the day.  We have a really dedicated team at Priorswood, including the teaching staff and none of this would be possible without everyone working together. The Nativity was a success; a great way to start off the Christmas festivities.  The Gazette came in to take a photograph of all the children.  If you haven’t seen the picture, you can view/purchase a copy of it by following this link countygazette.co.uk/photosales or call 01823 365151. This week we have enjoyed a Christmas lunch and a party day to celebrate the end of term.  Thank you for all your food donations – the children had a feast!  We have also enjoyed the Carol Service at St Andrews Church.  Although there was a technical issue, the children sang beautifully and did well to share their narrator parts.  The choir also performed for the Wellesley Street residents and at Lock House retirement home. We held our first parent drop in sessions this month.  Please share your thoughts on these sessions.  I know that it can be quite a challenge to get around all the classes if you have several children attending school.  However, if you would like to make an appointment to come in and see your child’s books at another time then please arrange this with the class teacher.    Some staffing news – Lin Collins was very surprised by her kind gifts that were presented to her during an assembly by Helen Marks.  She thanks everyone for their kindness.  Margaret Greenslade is semi-retiring after 25 years of service at Priorswood.  We will still be seeing her around as she will be continuing to work with our Nursery for a few hours a week.  We hope she enjoys the rest of her time off!      Finally, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  Enjoy spending time together as a family and cherish those dear to you.       Categories: 1 CategorySchool News

I can’t believe we are coming to the end of November and we will soon be on the countdown to Christmas! Thank you to everyone who supported the collection for Children in Need.  The children had a fun day!  They enjoyed the copper race and although we didn’t manage to make a golden mile, we did manage to create a line measuring a whopping 126.4 metres!  Well done to Stag class who managed to create a line measuring 40m.  The Duck Race added extra cheer in our assembly that day as all the children watched in anticipation for their duck to win.  The winner of the race was duck number 6.  We raised a total of £285.  Thank you to everyone who donated cakes and a special thank you to Robyn Clarke who spent endless hours and money baking a whole feast of cakes for the cake sale.   We have also had a visit from 4life Martial Arts.  We are pleased that there has been interest in this. The first session will be on Jan 8th.  The children really enjoyed the assembly. The children have also had a visit from Andrew Powell-Thomas who is a local author.  He introduced himself and his latest book, ‘A World of Colour’, to the children in assembly and then worked alongside Otter, Badger and Stag class.  He was very impressed with the children. There will be a non-uniform day on the 2nd Dec and are asking for tombola donations for our Christmas Fair which will be held on 5th December.  We thank you very much for your support.  If you have any ideas for the fair please seek out a member of our FOPS team or share your ideas with a member of staff.  FOPS will be discussing the fair in more detail on Monday. I appreciate that parking can be difficult but please can I remind parents not to drive/reverse out of our drive.  Thank you for your support in this. There is a lot to look forward to next month!  Please check the ‘Dates for your Diary’ section so that you do not miss out on the festivities.Categories: 1 CategorySchool News

We have had such a busy month!  Otter and Hedgehog classes have both produced great class assemblies this month.  Otter class shared everything they had learnt about their class animal and even wrote their own song.  Well done!  Hedgehog class shared all that they had learnt about their trip to Gore Farm.   We have trialled a different exit from the class assemblies which seems to be working more positively.  From now on, adults will exit through the main entrance doors and walk around the school to the classrooms while the children wait in the hall.  The children will then meet you back at the classroom where they will invite you into their class to share their learning with you.    KS2 have all been to Carymoor for their school trip which links to the launch of their curriculum focus for this term.  The children thoroughly enjoyed it and I am still being approached while I’m on duty outside by children telling me that I need to reuse, reduce and recycle!  We have had school photos this week.   We do hope you are pleased with them and would welcome any ideas you may have for the future. The Monster Bash was a real success and we will definitely be repeating the event next year!  Tremendous effort with the costumes – well done!  We are very lucky to have such dedicated staff and FOPS members.  I would like to thank them all for giving up their Friday evening to ensure the event ran smoothly.  If you have any ideas on how we can improve this event next year then please share them with me or a member of the FOPS team. After half term we will be in the run up to Christmas!  I personally can’t wait! I know I wrote this in the last newsletter but children must come into school with/wearing a coat every day.  Please could I remind you that children and adults should not be riding their bikes or scooters on the school site.  We would like to remind parents that the drive into school should not be used for anyone other than staff.  We have had a few complaints about vehicles reversing /turning, nearly causing injury to pedestrians.  Have a lovely half term and keep safe on Halloween! https://www.safekids.org/tip/halloween-safety-tips  Categories: 1 CategorySchool News
